Dennis Brown

Dennis Brown teaches both journalism and Constitutional law at Huntley High School. And he teaches both well enough to be recognized at the state and national levels.

Brown won the 2019 Tidwell Award as the top high school journalism teacher in Illinois, presented by the Illinois Journalism Education Association.

In addition, Brown was named among three national Teachers of the Year by the American Lawyers Alliance.

“He puts in as much energy and commitment as he expects from others. He demonstrates by example what commitment to a profession and to a belief is all about,” said Emma Kubelka, a student of Brown’s who worked as an editor at the school newspaper.

Brown also serves as adviser to The Voice, Huntley High School’s student-produced newsmagazine. It and its staff members have attained a number of national awards over the past several years, including multiple Quill and Scroll winners and national honors from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
