Students Lay Wreath at Tomb of the Unknowns

Students from Marlowe and Heineman Middle Schools had the honor of laying wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington, D.C. Both schools took trips to our nation’s capital over Columbus Day weekend.
Despite some rainy weather that resulted from Hurricane Matthew, which made landfall approximately 400 miles south in South Carolina, several students and staff chaperones enjoyed a successful trip.
The Tomb of the Unknowns houses unknown remains from past U.S. conflicts and stands as a monument to U.S. service members who dies without having their remains identified.
