A number of Huntley 158 schools, staff, and students are raising funds as part of #HuntleyGoesBald, a community-wide fundraiser for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s work against childhood cancer.
The #HuntleyGoesBald effort includes two public events.

  • March 17: At Huntley High School, 4-7 p.m.
  • March 18: At Parkside Pub, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

The March 17 community event will feature head-shaving of a number of local dignitaries, a volleyball tournament, an ice cream eating contest sponsored by Culver’s, concessions, and live entertainment including Irish dancers at 5:30 p.m. and a performance by HHS music group Project 2 at 6:30 p.m.
In addition, a number of school-associated teams are raising funds, including Huntley High School’s annual Penny Wars, pitting staff members who have promised to shave their heads against each other in a competition to raise the most funds. To learn more about that initiative, check out this segment from the school’s Raider Nation News.

The public event will be preceded by a school assembly featuring head shaving, pies in the face, and other activities for HHS students.
Last year’s #HuntleyGoesBald raised more than $105,000 toward the fight against childhood cancer, including Huntley 158 school efforts, which raised more than $21,000 for the local community.
Information about #HuntleyGoesBald, the history of the initiative, the current fundraiser leaderboard, and the March 18 community event at Parkside Pub can be found at https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/huntleygoesbald17.
For #HuntleyGoesBald events:

  • 100% of funds raised for head shaving will go directly to St. Baldrick’s in support of childhood cancer research.
  • All money raised locally (t-shirt sales, penny war money, volleyball tournament money, and general donations to HHS) will stay in our school district to help the Peluso and Diaz families with their fight. Julia Peluso and Jessica Diaz are HHS students currently fighting the cancer battle.
