The Huntley Community School District 158 Board of Education has named Dr. Scott Rowe as superintendent of schools, starting July 1. Dr. Rowe currently is the principal of Huntley High School.
The selection is the result of a national search conducted with the assistance of Hazard, Young, Attea, and Associates that produced nearly 50 qualified applicants from diverse geographic and professional backgrounds.
“We are extraordinarily pleased with the outcome of this search process. In the end, Dr. Rowe proved himself the best fit to carry forward the vision of the District,” said Don Drzal, president of the Board of Education. “His track record of driving innovation and academic excellence at HHS over the past five years, along with his passion for working with the students and families of our community, demonstrates his capability to succeed in this new role.”
Rowe has been instrumental in implementing the high school’s nationally recognized Blended Learning Program and 1:1 learning initiative, and the establishment of its Medical Academy, Engineering Academy, and new Fine Arts and Global Academies. In addition, he led the core planning team for the school’s recent $35-million renovation and addition project.
Rowe was selected among three finalists for the position. The other two finalists included the sitting superintendent of a suburban Chicago school district and the former superintendent of a large, out-of-state district.
Rowe began his career as a social studies teacher and assistant principal in other districts before joining Huntley 158 in 2011 as principal of Marlowe Middle School. He has been principal of HHS for the past five years. Rowe holds a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University and master’s and doctoral degrees in education from Aurora University.
He and his wife, Melissa, live in Huntley and have two children who attend Huntley 158 schools.
