Members of the Marlowe community,

We are very saddened to share that one of our students, James (Jimmy) Kilanski, passed away unexpectedly today (Monday). He was a member of Mrs. Stewart’s 7th-grade class. We are all grieving this tragic loss and offer our deepest condolences to the Kilanski family, his many friends, his classmates, the teachers and staff members that learned alongside him, and to all who knew Jimmy.

This loss has left us heartbroken, and our school community will struggle to process this news for some time. Social workers will be present all day in Mrs. Stewart’s class, and social work, counseling, and administrative staff will be available to provide support to any student or staff member in need of support. We will remember Jimmy with a school-wide moment of silence tomorrow morning.

Students and staff members are encouraged to reach out to any staff member they are comfortable with if they feel a need to express their feelings or ask any questions. If your child is struggling to process this information, we also encourage families to contact the school to be put in touch with resources that can help.

Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, support, and patience during this difficult time for our community. Information about services and school remembrances for Jimmy will be shared as they are available.

Sincerely,

Tony Venetico

Principal,
Marlowe Middle School
