Huntley Community School District 158 has announced the hiring of Mr. Brian Faulkner as the new principal at Heineman Middle School, effective for the 2020-21 school year. His hiring was approved by the Board of Education at its February 20 meeting.

The role will mark Faulkner’s second stint within Huntley 158, having previously served as an assistant principal at Heineman from 2006-2012. He then held the role of principal at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca and later at Harter Middle School in the Kaneland School District, where he has been since 2015.

“We are thrilled to bring Mr. Faulkner back to Huntley 158, where we will benefit not only from his history within our district, but also from the experiences he has gained in other high-quality schools,” said Superintendent Scott Rowe, Ed.D. “Mr. Faulkner has distinguished himself as an educational leader with strong skills in developing positive school culture. In addition, he has driven a number of efforts focused on technology, personalized learning, and positive behavior development at the schools he has led.”

He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and completed his master’s degree in educational leadership and administration at Benedictine University. He also is active as a percussionist in community-based bands and has published articles in a number of education industry publications.

Earlier this year the District announced that current Heineman principal James Litchfield will be taking a personal leave beginning at the end of this school year. He will continue to lead the school throughout the remaining months. He and Mr. Faulkner are collaborating on plans to ensure a smooth and positive transition.
