Dear Families,

We are hopeful that you were able to enjoy some relaxation and rest last weekend while allowing your student(s) to take a break from remote learning days. We have enjoyed hearing about the wonderful ways you are engaging and supporting your student(s) during our remote learning days.

While none of us could have predicted the unprecedented challenges we face as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we continue to be impressed with the genuine efforts of our entire school community to ensure our students continue to have learning opportunities. It is important for us to continue providing special education supports to our students through the best ways possible given the current circumstances resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

As you know, we continue to offer learning tasks for your student(s) to make progress toward goals through the use of E-Learning Student Individualized Plans. It is our hope that through implementation of these plans, we can continue to offer special education supports to our students.

Besides continuity of supports for our students, we remain committed to moving forward with any meetings that need to occur to ensure your student’s special education documents are updated within expected timelines. If a meeting is needed, you will be invited to participate in the meeting using Google Hangouts with either a phone or video option.

We recognize you will have ongoing concerns and questions as we move forward with remote learning days. In response to your ongoing concerns and questions, we will hold optional virtual meetings to help answer them. The dates and times for them are:

  • Friday, April 17, at 3:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 21, at 11:00 a.m.
  • Friday, April 24, at 8:00 a.m.

Please use this Google Form to sign up for one of these optional meetings. In addition, we have also created a Special Services Family Resource Hub, which includes contact information for our Special Services Administrative Team as well as links to resources that may be helpful to you as you continue to support your student(s) during remote learning days.

You are also encouraged to reach out to your student(s)’ IEP Team Members to help get your concerns and questions addressed in a timely manner. We are all here to ensure you feel equipped to support the success of your student(s) while we continue to provide learning opportunities during remote learning days.

While we have created the above opportunities based upon feedback that has been shared with IEP Team Members, it is important for us to get direct feedback from you as well. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey so we can continue to be responsive to potential supports that would be helpful to you throughout remote learning days. We look forward to the ongoing partnership with you throughout this process.

Take care,

Rocio del Castillo, Ed.D
Assistant Superintendent for Special Services
