Marlowe families,

We are excited to introduce Mr. Bill Johnson as the new principal at Marlowe Middle School, effective for the 2021-22 school year. After Principal Venetico announced his intention to resign at the conclusion of this school year, the District acted quickly to fill the vacancy with a proven leader who will provide for a seamless transition for Marlowe. The Board of Education approved his hiring at its Board meeting on March 18.
 Bill Johnson
Mr. Johnson is a known quantity within Huntley 158, having served as our Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Grades 6-12 since 2018. In that role, he has been responsible for leading and implementing learning initiatives across our middle and high school curricula. He has worked directly with our middle and high school staff and administration to guide the growth of our industry-leading Vanguard Vision Competency-based Education Program, dual enrollment programs with McHenry County College, middle school exploratory classes, and career-focused curricula in the areas of computer science, robotics, and welding, among many other accomplishments.

In addition to his role within our Center for Learning and Innovation, Mr. Johnson has served our country as a member of the United States Army Reserve since 2003, and currently holds the rank of Master Sergeant. In that role, he oversees a detachment responsible for producing strategic intelligence in support of the Defense Intelligence Agency and has served as instructor for a number of military leadership and intelligence courses. He is a certified Department of Defense Linguist in Spanish and has served deployments in Iraq and Central America.

Mr. Johnson joined Huntley 158 from Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, where he served as Division Chair of World Languages, Fine Arts, Business, Family and Consumer Sciences & Career and Technical Education. He previously served as a high school Spanish teacher and teacher’s assistant for students in a self-contained education setting.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and international business from North Central College, a master’s degree in education from St. Xavier University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lewis University.

It is a great fortune to have a leader of Mr. Johnson’s caliber ready to step into this vital role from within our own ranks. He and Mr. Venetico will continue to collaborate during the remaining months of the school year to ensure a smooth and positive transition to 2021-22.

Please join me in congratulating Mr. Johnson on this transition and welcoming him to the Marlowe family!

Sincerely,

Scott Rowe, Ed.D.
Superintendent
