Dear Huntley 158 Students & Families:

Winter break is finally upon us! I would like to congratulate our students and staff on the end of a challenging, yet rewarding semester. Thank you to all of our families for your partnership in navigating this year so far. Please take a moment to read through the updates below and watch Dr. Rowe’s final message in 2021 as we prepare for some time away from the classroom to rest, reset, and recharge.

Website Migration: District158.org to Huntley158.org

We are excited to introduce the launch of our district’s NEW and improved website: Huntley158.org. This site marks our move from district158.org to a more modern and up to date platform. Over the past several months, we have worked to design a more user-friendly site with improved speed, security and performance measures. On November 11, we reported on the site’s progress to our Board of Education, and now, we are eager to make this site available to our students, staff, parents and community members.

Over winter break, our team will be redirecting the district158.org URL directly to our new platform at huntley158.org. We have elected to finalize this process while our schools are closed for break in order to avoid any interruptions in our students’ and families’ website access. When you visit our site as we return on January 3, 2022, you will be directed to our updated platform to explore our district’s new layout and user-friendly features. With this update, our intention is for the Huntley 158 website to live as a dynamic and reliable source for important updates, useful information and positive coverage of our students’ many successes,  all while providing increased speed and a higher standard of performance.

As with any new endeavor, we will strive to continuously improve and optimize this site in order to provide our families, students and community with the best possible experience online. In the coming weeks and months we will continue to make timely updates and necessary modifications to ensure our website remains the first stop to provide valuable information and answer questions for our stakeholders. Therefore, we ask that all interested parents or students take a moment to complete the website feedback form below. The communications department and our administrative team will use these responses to inform our next steps and overarching goals to improve the quality of our website: Please submit your feedback here.

Student Safety & Healthy Habits on Social Media

As part of our ongoing efforts to make our schools as safe as possible, we’d like to encourage our families to take advantage of SmartSocial, a free resource provided by Huntley 158 to all parents and staff. SmartSocial is a tool to help facilitate conversations with your children about healthy habits on social media and online. SmartSocial also offers parent courses that will teach you how to approach these conversations and recommend guidelines you can institute at home to create healthy boundaries online. By signing up for your FREE account, you can register for upcoming events and access this resource today.

If you or your student are seeking additional support or resources to begin these conversations about safety at school and online, please do not hesitate to contact your building’s Student Services office. Our team of administrators, staff and community partners remain committed to providing the safest possible environment for our students and staff, and we value our families’ partnership in this endeavor.

We wish all of our Huntley 158 families a joyful and healthy start to the New Year. We will see you in 2022!

Sincerely,

Scott Rowe, Ed.D.
