Following board member Lesli Melendy’s resignation on October 21, 2022, Huntley 158 is now seeking applications for interested community members who would like to apply for a seat on the Board of Education.
All interested applicants should submit a cover letter explaining their interest and resume to the Board of Education and Superintendent’s office by emailing these materials to [email protected]. Please note, applicants must reside within the school district’s boundaries. Applications will remain open until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. This will give the Board of Education time to review all submissions during the scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting on November 3, 2022.
After review, applicants can expect a follow up communication from the Board with the opportunity to participate in the in-person interview process. A special meeting will be held on November 15, 2022 to conduct these interviews between candidates and sitting board members. This meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the District Office (650 Dr. John Burkey Drive, Algonquin, IL 60102). This meeting will be recorded and all interviews will be held in open session. Out of fairness to the applicants and in order to preserve the integrity of the interview process, this meeting will be closed to the public. After its conclusion, a recording of the meeting will be posted to the district’s YouTube channel the following morning.
The Board of Education will vote on the appointment of the successful candidate during this meeting allowing the chosen candidate to begin their tenure as a member of the Board at the Committee of the Whole meeting on December 1, 2022. The appointed board member will serve until the April 2023 election when the seat will be formally voted on by the community.
