The most important recommendation of the 2018 Equity Report was to create a District Guiding Equity Team: A small leadership group for recommendation and advisement, guiding this project and writing the diversity and educational equity plan. This team will facilitate the articulation of the collective vision for Equity in D158 and will create a multi-year action plan with strands for students, staff, board members, and families.
The committee will be facilitated by Dr. Phyllis Hayes, Educational Consultant and Dr. Rocio del Castillo, Assistant Superintendent for Special Services. We are seeking parents and staff members from across the district to participate. Ideally, we will be able to include a representation of all stakeholders; staff members from varied groups, such as certified staff, non-certified staff, administrators, parents, board members and community members.
The Equity Action Coalition will meet monthly between 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM at the district office. A light dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.. Meeting dates are included below for your reference in consideration of applying to be a part of the EEC.
Meeting Dates for 2019-20: November 6th, November 20th, December 11th, January 8th, January 22th, February 12th, March 11th, April 1st, May 6th, May 20th, and June 3rd.
