Schools in District 158 have been named after people who have had a major influence on the education of our children.

Ida Mackeben was an educator in Huntley for 35 years. Since she never had children of her own, she thought of her students as her children. Ida also served on the School Board for 12 years. During those years she helped the district build a new high school, which has now been sold and remodeled as the Huntley Park District R.E.C. Center on Mill Street.

Serving on the School Board for 18 years, helping Huntley grow as he worked as the Planning Commissioner, and being instrumental in securing the toll road on/off ramp for Huntley were a few of Harley’s accomplishments that helped our town prosper. Harley also served as Chairman of the Board of McHenry County. He also was instrumental in creating Dieke Park and the Valley High Nursing Home.

As we learn more about Ida and Harley Mackeben, we find ourselves realizing what an impact a person can make on a community. The Mackebens would be proud to see the community support that goes on in our school. Thank you to all the staff, P.T.A., parents, students, and community volunteers who make our school a wonderful place to learn, work, and grow!

Our building opened its doors in Fall of 2005.
