Welcome!

The goal of the vocational services provided by Huntley Community School District 158 is to support individuals with disabilities to help them prepare for, secure, regain or retain employment. As part of the services the district collaborates with DRS/STEP.

In the state of Illinois all districts have access to collaborative relationships with DRS/STEP which can look differently one school to the next. We will use this document to outline how District 158 provides services.

Our focus is to work collaboratively to meet the individual needs of each student and we are excited for the opportunity to work with you!

The vocational team works with the employer in a variety of capacities. Listed below are a few of the tasks that we perform regularly. The services are explained in more detail throughout tour webpages.

  • Coaching students to communicate with employers, managers and colleagues (i.e request off, change availability, disclose disability (personal decision), requesting more responsibility, etc.).
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding your employer’s progress in the workplace.
  • Liaison to employers, students, and their families.
  • Gather feedback from employers regarding student performance and work schedules.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your vocational team. We are excited to work with you and begin the journey to paid employment!

Partnership Luncheon

Each spring, businesses are invited to a luncheon hosted by Huntley Community School District 158 and the Vocational Services Team. We recognize each business with a perpetual plaque, and celebrate those we work with. Invitations to the event are sent out in February.
