Samantha Stobbe at Infinitec Banquet

Chesak Elementary School second-grader Samantha (Sammi) Stobbe recently received a 2017 Infinitec Outstanding Student Technology Award.
Sammi, the daughter of Carla and Christopher Stobbe, has Pallister Killian Syndrome, which leaves her with a number of learning barriers.
Kristin Smith, Huntley 158 assistive technology coordinator, said numerous hardware and software technologies have allowed Samantha to make great strides in learning and meet her IEP goals.
“Assistive technology gives Sammi the opportunity to make her own choices and engage with her environment,” Smith said.
Stobbe received the award at the Infinitec awards banquet on April 20. She also was recognized by the Huntley 158 Board of Education at its April 6 Committee of the Whole meeting.
Infinitec, which stands for infinite potential through technology, is the technology program of UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago. The mission of Infinitec is to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through technology.
