Welcome to Huntley 158’s community-wide summer reading initiative!

Experience the New York Times Bestseller by R.J. Palacio and join us as we read Wonder this summer!

#D158IsKind

Each family unit from grades K-8 will receive a copy of our community book choice: Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This book will be coming home with the oldest student in your family (if that individual is in 8th grade or younger) on Thursday, May 25. Students in our Early Childhood Center will go home with a special copy of the age appropriate picture book, We Are All Wonders, written and illustrated by R.J. Palacio to read at home. If you have a high school only student who would like to participate, we encourage them to pick up a book at the front desk of the high school during finals week.

Beginning Monday, June 5, read along with Huntley 158 and representatives from community organizations all across Huntley, Lake in the Hills and Algonquin. Follow along with our reading calendar and bookmark below (you’ll find your copy tucked in the pages of your students’ copy of Wonder) and be sure to join us on Monday nights as we gather at the Huntley Area Public Library to read alongside our community partners, students, and families! As we read, be sure to explore our website and participate in acts of kindness, be on the lookout for special signs across the community, and do your part to celebrate the power of kindness in Huntley 158!
