(This message was emailed to all families November 6)

Huntley 158 families,

We have been closely monitoring the public health metrics in our area throughout the week. While we have hoped to see improvement in the metrics, unfortunately we have continued to see trends far outside recommended levels for in-person/hybrid learning. In addition, we are seeing increases in positive tests, isolation, and quarantines among our school populations, even without students in our buildings. Therefore we will remain in Remote Learning until conditions dictate otherwise.

To allow for consistency and planning for our students, staff, and families, we aim to provide to you next week a more concrete, longer-term outlook in regard to our status. Our ideal remains a return to the highest amount of in-person learning possible. However, in our current circumstances, we will also be giving a high level of consideration to consistency and routine for our students, staff, and families.

In the coming days we will continue to monitor the metrics and remain in close contact with all of our stakeholders and partners as we hope for positive developments. We wish the absolute best of health and luck to all in our community in hopes that we may return to good health and learning as soon as possible!

Education Foundation Santa Express December 5

While the pandemic has caused the cancellation of many of the traditional holiday celebrations, the Huntley 158 Education Foundation will be hosting a safe, socially distanced (drive-thru) celebration with Santa. The Santa Express event will be held December 5, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in front of  Marlowe Middle School. Participants will get to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus and will receive a jingle bag of fun. Weekly Inspiration

While in Remote Learning, our staff members and administrators continue to find ways to connect with students. At Leggee Elementary School, Principal Scott Iddings and Assistant Principal Roshaunda Henson have been hosting Virtual Lunch with the Principal. We’re not sure who’s having more fun, the kids, or the administrators! View the fun here: https://www.facebook.com/leggeeleopards/posts/3411530778968622

Good health to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Scott Rowe, Ed.D.
