Dear HHS Parents,

For the past few years, Huntley High School has offered the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy to our students who have studied and obtained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation.  The Seal of Biliteracy encourages students to pursue biliteracy, honors the skills our students attain, and can be evidence of skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions offices. This recognition is designated on student transcripts and their high school diploma.

To qualify for the State Seal of Biliteracy, a student must receive a qualifying English score on the ACT or SAT as well as show proficiency in a second language through an approved assessment corresponding to the ACTFL proficiency standards.  This year, Huntley High School will be offering two forms of qualifying assessments for juniors and seniors:

  1. Advanced Placement assessments (AP tests) for Spanish and Chinese.
  2. STAMP assessments for Arabic, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Polish, French, Mandarin, and Spanish.

These assessments will test for students to be fluent in speaking, listening, reading and writing.  If your student is currently enrolled in AP Spanish or AP Chinese, there is nothing they need to do outside of preparing for the AP exam in May.  Student is interested in taking the STAMP test for one of the languages listed will need to complete the Interest Form by March 22, 2023.

The STAMP test will cost approximately $25 and we will be testing during the end of April.  More details will follow in April including the exact date and payment options.
