Huntley High School’s groundbreaking Youth Residency Program, a partnership with Centegra Health System that provides 24 seniors with the opportunity to work side-by-side with Centegra healthcare professionals for at least 2.5 hours a week, was featured in the Northwest Herald‘s December 14 edition.
According to Bernadette Szczepanski, Centegra senior vice president of human resources, staff at the brand-new Centegra Hospital-Huntley are already are used to working with the hundreds of college residents, but are pleased to be the first in the country to welcome a high school residency program.
“It’s really expanding their knowledge of the various professions,” Szczepanski said. “And we’re hoping that as they continue to explore health care careers after their training, they’ll come back and serve their friends, family, community as a whole.”
