Dr. Marcus Belin

The Huntley Community School District 158 Board of Education has approved the hiring of Marcus Belin as the next principal of Huntley High School, starting July 1, 2018.

Belin currently serves as assistant principal of Dunlap High School, a high-achieving school located just north of Peoria. During his time at Dunlap, Belin has managed a broad portfolio of administrative duties and has driven initiatives that have helped DHS maintain its place among the top schools in the state.

Prior to his work in Dunlap, Marcus served as a teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal at Quest Charter Academy, a public charter middle and high school in Peoria.

“Those of us who were part of the interview process with Marcus were immediately struck by his passion for the transformative power of education, his vision for driving meaningful change, and his infectiously positive attitude,” said Dr. Brad Hawk, interim superintendent. “While we had a number of high-quality applicants for the position, Marcus quickly rose to the top as an administrator who leads with the heart and by example. We are confident that under his leadership, Huntley High School will continue its success in driving innovation, creating opportunity, and providing the best possible education for all students.”

Originally from the south side of Chicago, Belin attended Bradley University, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, and currently is pursuing a doctorate in education at National-Louis University. He and his wife, Monique, have three children.
