Michael Geheren, a 2013 graduate of Huntley High School, took home on October 6 an Emmy Award as the Upper Midwest’s top news producer.

Geheren was honored both with the individual award and as a part of the KELOLAND news team that received the regional Emmy for best Public/Current/Community Affairs program.

After graduating from HHS, Geheren went on to study journalism at the University of South Dakota. After internships with a number of online and television news outlets, including WGN, he landed a position with KELOLAND. The news outlet provides television and online news coverage for the markets of Sioux Falls and Rapid City, South Dakota.

Geheren is well-remembered at HHS for his work as an editor of the award-winning Huntley Voice newsmagazine and website.
