Huntley 158 Seal

Dear Huntley 158 Parents and Families,

As our semester progresses, we have some important upcoming dates and events to make you aware of. Please see below for a brief overview of some dates to mark down on your calendar.

Universal BESS Screener Window Reopens February 22 – March 11, 2022
The Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BESS), which functions as the district’s universal social-emotional and behavioral screening tool for students, will be administered again between February 22 and March 11, 2022. The BESS is administered two times each year in order to evaluate any changes in our students’ needs. These dates will serve as the second screening period for the 2021-22 school year.

Please visit our website here for a helpful FAQ about the BESS, how to access your child’s results, and information for those who would like to opt their child out of the screening process. If you have specific questions about your student and the BESS, please reach out to your building principal.

Recognizing American Diversity (RAD) Event February 24
RAD (Recognizing American Diversity) is back for 2nd semester!  Join Huntley 158’s RAD Committee on Thursday, February, 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Huntley High School to celebrate Black History Month.

This is a FREE event for all ages. Guests can enter at Door 10 on the East end of the building by the Field House. We will be featuring the Jesse White Tumblers, music, a student panel, and guest speakers.

The goals of Recognizing American Diversity (RAD) are to recognize, celebrate, and discover diverse perspectives and identities that have historically been underrepresented.  We work from the assumption that everyone benefits and grows from knowing more about one another. Visit our website to see the calendar of engagement opportunities throughout the month of February.  Stay tuned for more opportunities to recognize diversity in our schools and across the community.

President’s Day Weekend: No School February 18-22
As a reminder for all students, there will be no school beginning Friday, February 18 through Tuesday, February 22. Tuesday, February 22 is a scheduled Institute Day for staff and students will not be in attendance. All students will return to school on Wednesday, February 23. If you have any questions regarding your student(s)’ attendance, please contact your child’s building directly.

I hope you can all enjoy a safe and restful long weekend!

Thank you,

Scott Rowe, Ed.D.
