HHS Poms Team with Second Place State Trophy

Huntley High School held an assembly on Monday morning to celebrate the accomplishments of a number of athletic teams, highlighted by a trophy presentation and performance by the Poms team, which took second in the IHSA Competitive Dance state finals over the weekend.
The team’s hip hop routine, a first at that level of competition, earned a score of 93.04, a fraction of a point behind Class 3A champions Stevenson High School.

“We knew hip hop wasn’t a top-scoring routine for everybody,” coach Chrissy Amling told the Northwest Herald. “We wanted to be different, so that’s what we picked this year. That was our baby, what we were passionate about. We just went out and gave it everything we got and nailed it. I couldn’t have asked for a better performance.”
At the all-school assembly, students were treated to a performance of the winning number prior to the team presenting the trophy to Principal Scott Rowe and Athletic Director Chris Rozanski.
