More than 40 students from Huntley High School’s Cooperative Education (Co-Op) class sat down with volunteers from the Huntley 158 staff and the local community to show off the job and life skills they’ve gained in class through mock interviews.
Community members representing a dozen employers and organizations joined staff members from throughout the District to put students through rigorous mock interviews.
The Co-Op class connects students with local employers in preparation for college and careers. In addition to skills such as interviewing and resume writing, classwork includes soft skill development, communication, college and career planning, and exposure to a number of career fields through guest speakers and field trips.
Students in the program also work part-time in local businesses.
This federally funded innovative “work-study” program started in the 1960’s to help students prepare for life after high school and college. Huntley High currently has relationships with more than 100 employers in the local area through the program.
