We will try to be brief with our updates as we continue working through this ongoing challenge. As you likely have heard, Governor Pritzker has extended his order that schools remain closed for face-to-face instruction through at least April 30.
While this order doesn’t materially affect our day-to-day academic efforts—we will continue to use e-Learning as outlined in our Remote Learning Plan—this extended closure does have other effects:
- All school-based activities through April 30 are cancelled, and buildings will remain closed to visitors.
- As referenced in the Remote Learning Plan, state-mandated standardized tests (IAR and SAT) have been waived and will not be administered.
- Final exams will not be held in the traditional way. We are examining options and will communicate in more detail about summative learning experiences when more detail is known.
- Prom will not be held on April 25. We are in planning stages for a contingency date in the summer and will communicate more when details are known.
- HHS Graduation remains scheduled for May 16. However, there is a strong likelihood that it will either not be held in its traditional format, or will be held on a different date. More details will be shared when more information is known.
Please note:
- April 10 remains a Day of Non-Attendance. No new e-Learning activities will be pushed out on this day.
- April 24 remains an Institute Day. No new e-Learning activities will be pushed out on this day, as our staff will take part in professional development activities.
- Our food services, technology, counseling and other services remain active and accessible to you without judgment or intrusion. Lunch and breakfast packs will remain available 9:00 a.m. to noon daily at Marlowe Middle School, including on April 10 and 24. Please reach out when help is needed.
