Huntley 158 families,

As we wind down the school year and build plans for next year, we continue to deal with uncertainties. Among these uncertainties for the fall are the specific impacts on schools of broad-based changes in guidelines, as well whether the State will grant us the ability to offer Remote Learning to the 200+ families who have opted for it for next year. We continue to wait for clarification from the State on these and other topics.

However, it is a certainty that getting our community vaccinated is the best way to ensure safety and health going forward. We are encouraging our families with students age 12 and older to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Many options are available, from county-sponsored mass clinics to retail pharmacies and primary care physicians’ offices.

Visit the McHenry County Department of Health website for more information.

UPDATED Summer Food Service Information

Please note the changes regarding the Food Services curbside pickup service for the upcoming summer months.

  • Both sites will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
  • Each day will include pickup of multiple meals for remaining days of the week.
  • Meals are free and available to all children 18 and under residing within the district.

Through the end of the 2020-21 school year, students not in-person can continue to pick up free breakfast and lunch sack meals via curbside service at Marlowe Middle School from 8:00-10:00 a.m. daily.

Weekly Inspiration

Senior Walkout 2021

On Wednesday, we enjoyed what is always one of our favorite days of the year. Members of the Class of 2021 participated in the Senior Walk Out, a modified version of the Senior Walk that has become a treasured annual tradition within our district.

The event is a parade taking seniors through the elementary and middle schools they attended earlier in their Huntley 158 careers, all to the adoring cheers of staff members and students in younger grades.

Traditionally, the parade winds through the hallways of schools. This year, a special outdoor route was created at each of our campuses. I’m happy to report that the excitement level was just as high as ever!

Check out more photos from the event on our Facebook page

As always, I wish good health to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Scott Rowe, Ed.D.
