H158 Logo

Informed by the Huntley 158 Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), the Family Learning Series events are designed to provide families an opportunity to come together and learn about a variety of topics related to special education.

On January 10, 2024, Joseph Salgado will present “Butterflies Aren’t Born Warriors, A Student’s Journey to Self Determination.” The event will be held at the District Office (Room 180), but families can also tune in virtually via Zoom.

Join young author, student and advocate Joseph Salgado as he shares his journey. In this engaging session, we will explore the transformative power of self-determination and its profound impact on the lives of students with disabilities. This event is a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how self-determination can pave the way for academic success, personal growth, and a sense of accomplishment showcasing Joe’s real-life examples as a student who has come to embrace his disability and seeks to empower others.

Registration is encouraged, but not required. Click here to RSVP. This event will be recorded for future access and for those unable to attend. If you require any special accommodations or require a translator for this event, please contact Kelly LaTour at [email protected].
