HUNTLEY, IL – Huntley Community School District 158 Board of Education member Lesli Melendy has resigned from her position, effective October 21, 2022 due to her family’s relocation outside of Huntley, Illinois.

Mrs. Melendy has been a valued member of Huntley 158’s Board since she was appointed in 2016. Since that time, Mrs. Melendy has continuously worked to put our students first while advocating for innovation and growth across Huntley 158. Her dedication to the families we serve and her passion for our students’ success has been a hallmark of her time in our district.

“It has been an honor to be of service to a community that has shaped over 20 years of my family’s life here in Huntley,” said Melendy. “I will always cherish the opportunity to see our community, students and schools grow to be the beacon of innovation and meaningful learning that they are today.”

Mrs. Melendy and her family have been residents of Huntley since 1998, her children are graduates of Huntley 158 schools and she has been an integral part of the district’s endeavors during her tenure on the Board. Over the past 24 years, she has worked in multiple Huntley 158 schools, served as the president of both the Chesak Martin PTA and the Marlowe PTO, and furthered the work of the district’s anti-bullying committee. Mrs. Melendy also spent time as a coach and board member of the Huntley Cheer Association where she founded the first Sparkle cheer team, a cheerleading squad for special needs students.

“On behalf of Huntley 158, I want to thank Mrs. Melendy for her many years of invaluable service and leadership on our board. We wish the Melendy family all the best as they continue on to an exciting new chapter,” said Scott Rowe, superintendent of Huntley 158 schools. “I am so grateful for the consistent leadership and support that each of our board members provides to the community and I look forward to continuing that trend as a new board member begins their tenure.”
